This prediction market asks forecasters to predict which LPGA golfer will have the lowest score after the first round of the 2026 Maybank Championship. The markets focus on individual player performance, with resolution based on the official tournament results.
This market will resolve according to the player that finishes Round 1 of the main tournament at the 2026 Maybank Championship with the lowest cumulative score to par. In the event of a tie, this market will resolve in favor of the player with the lower score on the back 9 of the first round. If a tie still persists, this market will resolve in favor of the player that records more eagles thus far in the main tournament. If a tie still persists, this market will resolve in favor of the player who records more birdies thus far in the main tournament. If a tie still persists, this market will resolve in favor of the player who records fewer bogeys thus far in the main tournament. If a tie still persists, this market will resolve in favor of the player whose listed last name comes first alphabetically. If the 2026 Maybank Championship is cancelled, postponed after November 15, 2026 at 11:59PM ET, or if an official Round 1 leader has not been declared within that timeframe, this market will resolve to "Other". The primary resolution source will be the official results published by the event organizer or governing body.
Each market corresponds to a specific golfer and resolves to 'Yes' if that golfer is the sole leader at the end of Round 1 of the 2026 Maybank Championship. If multiple golfers are tied for the lead, 'Yes' positions pay $1 divided by the number of tied participants (rounded down to the nearest cent), while 'No' positions pay the complement of that payout (1 minus the 'Yes' payout). The markets are independent, meaning the resolution for each golfer is determined solely by their own performance relative to the field at the end of Round 1, with no additional dependencies between markets. Prediction market odds, like those found on Polymarket and Kalshi, often reflect the collective wisdom of a diverse group of bettors, potentially offering a different perspective than traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and aim to balance action on both sides, while prediction markets aggregate individual forecasts. This can lead to discrepancies, especially when public sentiment strongly favors a particular outcome. Often, the implied probabilities from this market and sportsbook odds will align, but divergences can present opportunities for informed traders.
Prices on Polymarket and Kalshi for the Maybank Championship leader market can diverge due to several factors. Polymarket and Kalshi can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. Each platform attracts a different user base with varying levels of expertise and information, leading to differing opinions. Trading volume also plays a role; lower volume on one platform can result in greater price volatility. Additionally, the specific mechanisms for price discovery—how traders can buy and sell contracts—differ between Polymarket and Kalshi, contributing to potential price discrepancies. These differences can create arbitrage opportunities for traders.
