Frequently asked questions

Prediction market odds often reflect the collective wisdom of a diverse group of traders, potentially offering a different perspective than traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set their odds based on statistical models and expert analysis, while this market aggregates the beliefs of many individuals. It's common to see discrepancies between the two, especially early in the market's life, as prediction markets can quickly incorporate new information and adjust probabilities. Analyzing these differences can be insightful, but remember that both represent probabilities of the same event occurring.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief about whether a hole-in-one will occur during the LOTTE Championship. The price of these shares directly reflects the implied probability of a hole-in-one. As more traders participate, the price converges towards what the market believes is the true probability. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market’s price is determined solely by supply and demand among traders on Polymarket, and is not influenced by external factors or predetermined values.

This market resolves around Oct 5, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Specifically, the resolution will depend on whether any player achieves a hole-in-one during the official rounds of the LOTTE Championship. Official tournament records will be used to determine if a hole-in-one occurred. The market will settle to 100 if a hole-in-one is recorded, and 0 if no hole-in-one is recorded during the tournament’s play.

Several factors could influence the price of this market. News regarding player form, particularly if a known long-shot player is performing exceptionally well, could shift the odds. Weather conditions at the LOTTE Championship, such as strong winds or rain, might also impact the probability of a hole-in-one, as these can affect shot difficulty. Unexpected course changes or modifications could also be a catalyst. Finally, significant trading volume, driven by new information or shifts in sentiment, will directly influence the price of shares in this market.
