Prediction market odds, like those found on Polymarket and Kalshi, often differ from traditional sportsbook odds due to the differing incentives and information sources. Sportsbooks primarily aim to set lines that balance betting action and ensure profitability, while prediction markets aggregate the wisdom of the crowd. This market’s odds reflect what participants believe will happen, potentially incorporating information not yet fully priced into sportsbook lines. Furthermore, prediction markets typically have lower transaction costs, allowing for more efficient price discovery. It’s common to see prediction market probabilities diverge from sportsbook implied probabilities, especially as new information emerges.
