This event tracks passing yard milestones for specific quarterbacks in an upcoming football game, resolving based on whether they achieve certain yardage thresholds during the match.
All contracts are designated as protected, meaning if a player participates in at least one play during the first half but does not participate in any play after the conclusion of the first half, including overtime, the contract resolves to the fair price prior to the opening kickoff unless the player meets the required passing yardage threshold. If the player participates in any play after the first half, the contract settles based on actual statistics regardless of first-half participation. Participation in a play nullified by penalty does not count, and a player who never participates remains subject to the fair price non-participation rule. The protected designation applies only to full-game contracts with an above or at-least payout criterion, and this event uses full game passing yards including overtime. The contracts resolve to Yes if the specified quarterback records the designated passing yardage threshold in the game.
Typically, prediction market odds offer a distinct perspective compared to traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks often incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, ensuring a profit margin, while Kalshi allows traders to directly assess probabilities. This can lead to differences in implied probabilities, especially as new information emerges or public sentiment shifts. While sportsbooks may initially set odds based on statistical models and expert analysis, this market reflects the collective wisdom of a diverse group of traders, potentially identifying mispriced opportunities that sportsbooks haven't yet accounted for.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order book, where traders buy and sell contracts representing different passing yardage ranges. The price of each contract fluctuates based on supply and demand. When more traders believe a particular outcome is likely, the price of contracts representing that outcome increases. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. This dynamic pricing mechanism means the market constantly adjusts to incorporate new information and changing expectations. Traders are essentially betting on the probability of the actual passing yards falling within a specific range, and the market price reflects the aggregated assessment of all participants.
This market resolves around Oct 25, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the final passing yardage statistics from the game are verifiable from credible public reporting. The final, official passing yardage total for the game, as reported by the NFL, will determine which contracts pay out. Traders holding contracts corresponding to the actual passing yardage range will receive a payout, while those holding contracts for other ranges will not. This ensures a transparent and objective resolution process based on publicly available data.
Several factors could significantly influence this market. Any news regarding injuries to key quarterbacks or wide receivers on either team would likely cause substantial movement. Changes in weather forecasts, particularly if they predict adverse conditions that could affect passing offenses, could also shift the market. Furthermore, late-breaking news about defensive strategies or coaching decisions could impact trader sentiment. Even significant shifts in public opinion, reflected in polls or expert analyses, can influence the price action in this market as traders react to new information.
