Description

This prediction market asks for the winner of the second half of a Major League Soccer (MLS) game between Los Angeles FC and the Los Angeles Galaxy. Resolving to LAFC if they score more goals, the Galaxy if they score more, or a Draw if they score the same number of goals during the second half and stoppage time.

PredictionHero - Resolution Divergence Alerts (RDA)

Unified Resolution Criteria (Consistent across platforms)

Both platforms utilize identical resolution criteria regarding second-half goals, stoppage time inclusion, draw conditions, and cancellation procedures.Primary resolution logic: Official statistics of the event organizers (MLS), with fallback to Flashscore, then Sofascore, then consensus reporting.

Core resolution logic:

  • The team scoring more goals in the second half (including stoppage time) wins.
  • If both teams score the same number of goals, the market resolves to a Draw.
  • First-half goals, extra time, and penalty shoot-outs are excluded.
  • If the game is canceled, the market resolves to a Draw.

Edge cases & clarifications:

  • Postponement: If the game is postponed, the market remains open until the game is completed.
  • Data Availability: If official statistics aren't available within 2 hours, Flashscore is used. If Flashscore isn't available, Sofascore is used. If neither is available, a consensus of credible reporting is used. If no acceptable data is available within 24 hours, the market resolves 50-50 (Draw where applicable).
Timing: Resolution occurs after the completion of the second half (including stoppage time) and once official statistics are available, or within 24 hours using fallback sources. Our PredictionHero Resolution Divergence Alerts (RDA) are there to help users identify potential differences across platforms. They do not replace or supersede the official rules and description of any prediction market. Users are solely responsible for reviewing and understanding the applicable rules and resolution criteria before placing any trade or bet. If you notice a potential inconsistency, discrepancy, or error in an alert, please report it to our team so we can review and improve the accuracy of our data.

Frequently asked questions

Prediction market odds, like those found on Polymarket and Predict, often reflect the collective wisdom of a diverse group of participants, potentially offering a different perspective than traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set odds based on statistical models and expert analysis, while this market is driven by real-money wagers, which can quickly adjust to new information and changing sentiment. Discrepancies can arise due to differing methodologies, risk assessments, and the influence of public perception. It’s common to see prediction markets incorporate information faster than sportsbooks, especially regarding factors not easily quantifiable.

Prices on Polymarket and Predict for the LAFC vs. Galaxy second half can diverge due to several factors. Polymarket and Predict can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. Each platform attracts a different user base with varying levels of expertise and risk tolerance, leading to differing opinions on the likely outcome. Trading volume also plays a role; a market with low volume on one platform may be more susceptible to price swings. Furthermore, the specific rules and fee structures of each platform can influence trading behavior and, consequently, the displayed probabilities. These differences highlight the value of aggregating data across multiple prediction markets.
