Frequently asked questions

Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd, often incorporating information and analysis not immediately captured by traditional sportsbooks. While sportsbooks set initial lines based on team statistics and expert opinions, this market allows traders to adjust those probabilities based on real-time developments, news, and even subtle signals. You may find that the odds here diverge from sportsbook offerings, especially as kickoff approaches and more information becomes available. This difference can present opportunities for informed traders.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in each outcome. The price of a share directly reflects the implied probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders participate, the price adjusts to reflect the collective assessment of the event's likelihood. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market's price is driven entirely by supply and demand, meaning that significant news or shifts in sentiment can quickly impact the odds.

This market resolves around Oct 11, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Resolution will depend on which team—Liverpool or Manchester City—scores the first goal in the second half of the match. The outcome will be determined by official match data and verified against credible public sources. Traders will then be able to claim their winnings based on the final result.

Several factors could influence the price of this market. Any news regarding key player injuries or suspensions for either Liverpool or Manchester City would likely cause significant movement. Tactical lineup announcements, particularly if they suggest a change in attacking strategy, could also impact trading activity. Even in-game events during the first half, such as a red card or an early goal, could shift the perceived probabilities and lead to price adjustments. Unexpected weather conditions could also play a role, influencing the style of play and potentially favoring one team over the other.
