Often, prediction market odds offer a different perspective than traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks typically incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, while this market allows traders to directly assess the probability of an outcome. Discrepancies can arise due to differing opinions, information advantages held by traders, or simply variations in market participants. If you find a significant difference between the odds here and those offered by sportsbooks, it could signal an opportunity for value betting, depending on your own analysis and risk tolerance.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly reflects the implied probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and new information becomes available, the price adjusts to reflect the collective wisdom of the crowd. The current price indicates what traders, as a group, believe is the likelihood of each player winning the Lisbon tennis match.
