Prediction market odds often reflect the collective wisdom of a diverse group of bettors, potentially offering a different perspective than traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbook odds are typically set by professional oddsmakers, while this market relies on the opinions of individual traders. While sportsbooks may initially have an edge due to specialized information, prediction markets can sometimes outperform them, especially as new information becomes available and is quickly incorporated into the price. It's useful to compare the two to see where discrepancies exist and understand differing viewpoints on the likely outcome.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly reflects the implied probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders participate and express their views, the price adjusts to reflect the collective assessment. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market price is determined solely by supply and demand within Polymarket; there are no external factors influencing the pricing mechanism.

Monitoring these factors can help understand potential price fluctuations.
