Typically, prediction market odds offer a different perspective than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks often incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, which represents their profit margin. This market, driven by the wisdom of the crowd on Polymarket, aims to reflect the true probability of each outcome, though discrepancies can and do occur. These differences can arise from varying levels of information, differing opinions among bettors, and the incentive structures of each venue. It’s valuable to compare both to form a well-rounded assessment.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the likelihood of each outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and new information becomes available, the prices adjust to reflect the evolving consensus. The market's depth – the number of shares available at different price points – also influences price discovery and provides insight into the strength of conviction behind each prediction.
This market resolves around Oct 20, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting.
