Typically, prediction market odds offer a different perspective than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks often incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, while Polymarket allows traders to directly assess probabilities. This can lead to discrepancies, especially when public sentiment strongly disagrees with the sportsbook's initial assessment. It's common to see prediction markets reflecting the 'wisdom of the crowd,' potentially identifying value where sportsbooks may be less accurate. Comparing these odds can be a useful exercise for informed decision-making.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly reflects the probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The more traders who believe in a particular outcome, the higher the price of its corresponding shares will rise. This dynamic pricing ensures that the market reflects the collective intelligence of all participants, offering a real-time probability assessment of the Lisbon doubles match.
This market resolves around Oct 27, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting.
