Generally, prediction market odds often reflect the 'wisdom of the crowd,' potentially offering a different perspective than traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and aim to balance action on both sides, while this market allows anyone to express their belief about the outcome. It's common to see discrepancies, especially early on, as prediction markets can incorporate information and opinions more rapidly. However, as the event approaches, the odds on Polymarket and sportsbook lines tend to converge, though differences can still exist due to varying market dynamics and user bases.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in each outcome. The price of a share directly reflects the implied probability of that outcome occurring. As more people buy shares in a particular team scoring first, the price of those shares increases, and the implied probability rises accordingly. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market's price is determined solely by supply and demand from traders on Polymarket, and reflects their collective assessment of the likelihood of each team taking the lead.
This market resolves around Oct 9, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The resolution will be based on official match data and sources, ensuring an objective determination of which team achieved the first score.
