Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and need to account for profit margins, while this market is driven purely by traders' beliefs. If a significant number of traders believe a particular exact score is more likely than sportsbooks suggest, the odds on Polymarket will move accordingly. It’s common to see discrepancies, especially as new information emerges or public sentiment shifts leading up to the match.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing different exact scores. The price of each share reflects the market’s collective assessment of that score's probability. As more shares are traded, the price adjusts to find an equilibrium. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The more shares purchased for a specific outcome, the higher its price will climb, indicating increased confidence in that result. The total volume traded provides insight into the market’s overall activity and interest in various potential scores.
