Prediction market odds often reflect a different set of information and incentives than those found at traditional sportsbooks. While sportsbooks primarily cater to casual bettors and may incorporate a ‘vig’ or commission, this market aggregates the wisdom of the crowd, incentivizing accurate predictions. Therefore, discrepancies can arise due to differing levels of expertise, access to information, and risk tolerance among participants. It’s common to see prediction markets move faster to incorporate new information, potentially offering a more efficient price discovery process than traditional betting venues.
