Frequently asked questions

Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks often set initial lines to balance action, while this market allows traders to freely adjust probabilities based on their own research and information. This can lead to prediction markets being more accurate, especially as the event approaches and more information becomes available. It’s common to see discrepancies between the two, as sportsbooks incorporate a profit margin and may be influenced by public betting patterns, whereas this market is driven by pure prediction.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the probability of a particular outcome. As more shares are traded, the price adjusts to reflect the collective assessment of the crowd. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. Higher demand for shares in a specific outcome will drive up its price, indicating greater confidence in that result. This dynamic pricing ensures the market reflects the most up-to-date information and predictions.

This market resolves around Oct 27, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The resolution will be based on the official second half result of the Leicester City vs. Wigan Athletic FC match. The platform will verify the result against official sources to determine which outcome is the winner. Traders who correctly predicted the second half result will be entitled to a payout based on the final market price at resolution, while those who predicted incorrectly will forfeit their shares.

Several factors could influence this market before resolution. Any news regarding team injuries, changes in player lineups, or tactical adjustments announced by either Leicester City or Wigan Athletic could significantly shift the odds. Unexpected weather conditions on match day, or even pre-match analysis from reputable sports commentators, could also impact trader sentiment. Furthermore, significant betting activity or large trades on Polymarket itself can create momentum and move the market price, reflecting a change in perceived probability.
