Frequently asked questions

Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks often set initial lines based on expert analysis and incorporate a profit margin, while this market allows traders to express their own beliefs. If a significant number of traders believe a sportsbook is undervaluing a particular outcome, the price in this market will adjust accordingly. It’s common to see discrepancies, especially as new information becomes available and public sentiment shifts closer to the event.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the likelihood of each outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate, the price converges towards what the market collectively believes is the true probability. The current price reflects the aggregated predictions of all participants, making it a dynamic and responsive indicator of expectations.

This market resolves around Oct 18, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Resolution will depend on which team scores the first goal in the second half of the match. The official match records will be used to determine the winning outcome. Traders who correctly predicted the first team to score will be paid out according to the final market prices at the time of resolution.

Several factors could influence the price of this market. Any news regarding team injuries, changes in player lineups, or tactical adjustments announced by either Manchester United or Leeds could significantly shift trader sentiment. Unexpected weather conditions or even pre-match commentary from influential football analysts could also play a role. Furthermore, as the match progresses and early game events unfold, the market will react in real-time, potentially leading to substantial price movements.
