These markets focus on whether specific players or teams will score at least one touchdown during an upcoming football game between Las Vegas and New York. Each market tracks different participants, including individual offensive players and defensive units from both teams.
All contracts are designated as protected, meaning if a player participates in at least one play during the first half but does not participate in any play after the conclusion of the first half (including overtime), the contract resolves to the fair price prior to the opening kickoff unless the player records the required touchdowns. If the player participates in at least one play after the first half, the contract settles based on actual statistics regardless of first-half participation. Participation in a play nullified by penalty does not count, and a player who never participates remains subject to the fair price non-participation rule. The protected designation applies only to full-game contracts with an above or at-least payout criterion. This event considers touchdowns scored throughout the entire game, including overtime, and passing touchdowns do not count as touchdowns scored by the passer. Team defense/special-teams selections settle on actual touchdowns, and the player participation exception does not apply to them.
Generally, prediction market odds often reflect the wisdom of the crowd, potentially differing from initial sportsbook lines which are often set by experts. Sportsbooks may incorporate factors like public perception and team biases when establishing their odds, while this market aggregates the views of many individual traders. It’s common to see this market move independently of sportsbook odds as new information emerges or as public sentiment shifts closer to the event date. However, as the game approaches, the two may converge, especially if there is strong agreement between the crowd and the experts.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order book where traders buy and sell contracts representing their beliefs about the outcome. The price of a contract indicates the probability of that outcome occurring, as perceived by the market participants. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Traders set the odds by placing bids and asks, and the market price fluctuates based on supply and demand. Higher volume indicates greater interest and potentially more accurate pricing, as more information is incorporated into the contracts' values. The market’s efficiency is driven by the collective intelligence of its traders.
This market resolves around Nov 2, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Specifically, the total number of touchdowns scored in the Las Vegas versus New York game will be used to determine the winning contracts. The resolution will be based on official game statistics, ensuring a transparent and verifiable result. Traders will then be able to claim their winnings or fulfill their obligations based on the final outcome of the game and their positions in this market.
Several factors could significantly influence this market. News regarding key player injuries for either the Las Vegas or New York teams would be a major catalyst. Changes in weather forecasts, particularly if they suggest unfavorable conditions for passing, could also shift expectations. Unexpected coaching decisions or strategic adjustments announced before the game could also impact trading activity. Finally, any significant shifts in public sentiment, perhaps driven by expert analysis or media coverage, could lead to movements in the price of contracts within this market.
