Typically, prediction market odds offer a different perspective than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks often incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, which represents their profit margin. This market, driven by the collective intelligence of traders, aims to represent the true probability of an event occurring. While sportsbooks may initially set odds based on expert analysis, prediction markets can quickly adjust as new information emerges and more people participate. It's common to see discrepancies between the two, reflecting differing opinions and levels of information available to each.
On Limitless, this market is priced through a continuous order book where traders buy and sell contracts representing different outcomes. The price of each contract fluctuates based on supply and demand. When more traders buy contracts predicting a specific outcome, the price increases, and the implied probability of that outcome rises. Conversely, increased selling pressure lowers the price. On Limitless, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. This dynamic pricing mechanism allows the market to quickly incorporate new information and reflect the collective beliefs of participants regarding the Rayo Vallecano vs Athletic Club match.
