Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks often set initial lines to balance action, while this market is driven purely by individuals willing to put their money behind their beliefs. If a significant number of people believe an outcome is more likely than a sportsbook suggests, the price will move accordingly. It's common to see discrepancies, especially before a lot of money has been traded, as prediction markets can sometimes incorporate information and analysis faster than sportsbooks. However, as the event nears, the odds tend to converge.
On Predict, this market is priced through a continuous order book where traders buy and sell contracts representing different outcomes. The price of each contract reflects the collective belief of all participants. On Predict, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate, the price adjusts to reflect the evolving consensus. This dynamic pricing mechanism means that the odds aren't fixed but rather change in response to supply and demand. Essentially, the market price represents the probability that a particular outcome will occur, as assessed by the traders on Predict.
