Prediction market odds, like those found on Polymarket and Kalshi, often differ from traditional sportsbook odds due to the differing incentives and information sources. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and ensure profit, while prediction markets reflect the collective wisdom of traders who are incentivized to accurately forecast the outcome. This market benefits from a diverse range of participants, potentially incorporating information not readily available to sportsbooks. While both aim to predict the same event, the mechanisms and participant motivations lead to potentially distinct probabilities and implied outcomes. These differences can create arbitrage opportunities for informed traders.
