Typically, prediction market odds reflect a different set of information and incentives than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks often incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, while prediction markets aim to represent the true probability of an outcome as determined by traders. Therefore, you may find differences between the implied probability on Polymarket and the odds offered by sportsbooks. These differences can arise from varying levels of expertise among market participants, access to unique information, or simply differing opinions on the event's likely outcome.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders buy shares in a particular outcome, its price increases, reflecting growing confidence. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. This dynamic pricing ensures that the market reflects the collective wisdom of the crowd. The current price of shares indicates what the market believes is the likelihood of each athlete winning the match.
This market resolves around Oct 23, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The resolution will be based on the official result of the Kunchurov vs. Efimov match as declared by the governing sporting body.
