Frequently asked questions

Typically, prediction market odds offer a different perspective than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks often incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, representing their profit margin. This market, driven by the collective wisdom of traders on Polymarket, aims to represent the true probability of each outcome. While sportsbooks may initially set odds based on statistical models and expert opinions, this market can dynamically adjust as new information and sentiment emerge. It's common to see differences in implied probabilities between the two, potentially offering value to informed traders.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in each possible outcome – in this case, KRC Genk scoring first, KV Kortrijk scoring first, or neither team scoring first. The price of each share directly reflects the probability of that outcome as perceived by the market participants. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and new information becomes available, the prices will shift, providing a dynamic assessment of the likelihood of each team breaking the deadlock first in the match.

This market resolves around Oct 10, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Resolution will be based on which team, if any, scores the first goal in the KRC Genk vs. KV Kortrijk match. Official match records and verified sources will be used to determine the first goalscorer, and that information will be used to settle the market. The outcome will be determined by the official result of the match, as reported by recognized sports authorities.

Several factors could influence trading activity in this market leading up to the match. Any news regarding key player injuries or suspensions for either KRC Genk or KV Kortrijk would likely cause shifts in the odds. Changes in team form, recent match results, or tactical adjustments announced by the managers could also impact trader sentiment. Even weather conditions on match day could play a role, influencing the style of play and potentially the likelihood of a quick goal. Unexpected announcements or developments related to the teams could also move this market significantly.
