Prediction market odds often reflect the collective wisdom of a diverse group of traders, potentially offering a different perspective than traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set initial lines based on statistical models and expert analysis, while this market allows anyone to express their belief about the outcome, leading to a dynamic pricing mechanism. It's common to see differences emerge, especially as new information becomes available or public sentiment shifts. Comparing these odds can provide valuable insights for informed decision-making, though it's important to remember that both represent probabilities, not guarantees.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of these shares directly reflects the implied probability of each outcome. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market's price is determined by supply and demand; if more traders believe Korobko Volodymyr will win, the price of shares representing that outcome will rise, and vice versa. This creates a dynamic and real-time assessment of the event's potential results.
