Often, prediction market odds reflect a different perspective than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and incorporate a profit margin, while this market relies on the collective wisdom of traders. If a significant difference emerges between prediction market probabilities and sportsbook odds, it could indicate that traders believe the sportsbook is mispricing the event. Discrepancies might arise from differing access to information, analytical approaches, or simply varying levels of confidence in a particular outcome.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the likelihood of a particular outcome. As more shares are purchased for a specific outcome, its price increases, reflecting a higher implied probability. The price of shares is determined by supply and demand, with traders adjusting their positions based on new information and their own analysis of the Korobko vs. Fashchevskyi match. This dynamic pricing ensures that the market reflects the most up-to-date collective forecast.
