Frequently asked questions

Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and need to account for profit margins, while this market allows traders to directly express their beliefs about the outcome. If there's a significant discrepancy, it could indicate that the crowd believes a sportsbook is mispricing the probability of a particular result. Analyzing these differences can provide valuable insights into where the market sees an edge.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in each possible outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate, the price adjusts to reflect the collective assessment of the event's likelihood. The market's efficiency depends on the number of participants and the information they bring to bear on their trading decisions.

This market resolves around Oct 17, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The result of the Kilmarnock vs. Motherwell second half – whether Kilmarnock wins, Motherwell wins, or the half ends in a draw – will be used to determine the winning shares. The resolution will be based on the official result declared by the governing football authority and widely reported by sports news sources.

Several factors could influence trading activity in this market. Late-breaking news regarding player injuries or suspensions for either Kilmarnock or Motherwell would likely cause significant shifts in the odds. Changes in team form, tactical adjustments announced by the managers, or even weather conditions on match day could also impact trader sentiment. Unexpected events during the first half of the match, such as a red card, could also lead to substantial price movements in this market.
