Prediction market odds often differ from those found at traditional sportsbooks due to the wisdom of the crowd effect. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and risk assessment, while this market reflects the collective belief of many individual traders. If a significant number of traders believe a sportsbook is mispricing a particular outcome, they can express that view by trading on Polymarket, potentially driving the prediction market odds in a different direction. It's common to see discrepancies, especially before major events or when new information emerges.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing their belief about the outcome of the KHL Amur vs. Barys game. The price of a share directly corresponds to the probability of that outcome occurring, as perceived by the market participants. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market price fluctuates based on supply and demand; increased buying pressure raises the price, while increased selling pressure lowers it. This dynamic pricing reflects the evolving collective intelligence of the traders.
