Description

This set of markets tracks how many touchdowns are caught by players during a college football game between Kentucky and South Carolina. Each market focuses on a specific threshold of receiving touchdowns for either team, determining whether they meet or exceed that number during the match.

Kalshi

All markets resolve based on the total number of receiving touchdowns scored by each team in the Kentucky vs South Carolina college football game scheduled for October 3, 2026, including any touchdowns scored during overtime periods. A receiving touchdown is counted only when the player who catches the ball also crosses the goal line with it. Touchdowns resulting from another player recovering a fumble—unless the original receiving player recovers their own fumble and scores—are excluded. Successful two-point conversions, regardless of when they occur, do not count toward these totals. If the game is postponed but starts within 48 hours of its original time, all markets remain active and resolve according to the final official result. If the game does not begin within 48 hours of the scheduled start time, the markets will resolve to a fair price. These markets operate independently for each team and each threshold (2+, 3+, and 4+), with each market resolving to 'Yes' only if the specified team reaches the designated number of receiving touchdowns.

Often, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd, potentially differing from initial sportsbook lines. Sportsbooks set their odds based on statistical models and expert analysis, while this market incorporates the collective predictions of many individuals. If a significant number of traders believe a team is more likely to score a touchdown than sportsbooks suggest, the price for that outcome will increase, indicating a divergence in expectations. It's common to see prediction markets move faster than sportsbooks to incorporate new information or changing sentiment surrounding the game.

On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell contracts representing different outcomes. The price of a contract indicates the probability of that outcome occurring, as perceived by the market participants. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and new information becomes available, the prices adjust dynamically, reflecting the evolving consensus. Currently, the most active contracts relate to which team, if either, will score the first touchdown, and the overall number of touchdowns scored in the game.

This market resolves around Oct 4, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Resolution will be based on whether each team scores at least one touchdown during the official game time, as determined by official game statistics. The final score and play-by-play data will be used to verify the outcome. Traders holding contracts on the winning outcome will be paid out according to the final market price at resolution, while those holding contracts on losing outcomes will forfeit their investment.

Several factors could influence the price of contracts in this market. News regarding key player injuries for either Kentucky or South Carolina would likely have a significant impact, as would changes in weather forecasts predicting adverse conditions. Unexpected announcements about coaching strategies or team formations could also shift market sentiment. Even public polls or expert analyses predicting a change in scoring potential could move the market, as traders react to new information and adjust their predictions regarding the likelihood of touchdowns being scored during the game.
