Generally, prediction market odds often reflect a ‘wisdom of the crowd’ perspective, potentially differing from those set by sportsbooks. Sportsbooks establish lines based on their own models and need to account for profit margins, while this market is driven purely by traders’ beliefs about the likelihood of each outcome. If there's a significant discrepancy, it could indicate that the crowd believes the sportsbook has mispriced the event, or that new information hasn't yet been fully incorporated into sportsbook lines. It’s a useful comparison point for informed decision-making.
On Predict, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell contracts representing different outcomes. The price of each contract reflects the collective probability that outcome will occur. As more traders participate and express their views, the prices adjust, providing a dynamic assessment of the event’s likelihood. On Predict, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. This means the price movements are solely determined by supply and demand within Predict, offering a unique perspective compared to traditional betting venues.
