Sportsbooks often set initial lines influenced by factors like team reputations and public perception, while this market allows traders to incorporate a wider range of information, including potentially undervalued data or late-breaking news. It's common to see discrepancies, particularly as the event approaches and more information becomes available. Examining these differences can offer insights into where the market perceives value or disagreement with conventional wisdom.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in each outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders participate, the price adjusts to reflect the collective assessment of the likelihood of either Kashima Antlers or Gamba Ōsaka scoring first. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. This dynamic pricing ensures the market reflects the most up-to-date information and sentiment.
