Often, prediction market odds offer a different perspective than traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and incorporate a profit margin, while this market reflects the collective wisdom of traders. If a significant discrepancy exists between the implied probability on Polymarket and sportsbook odds, it could indicate that the market believes the sportsbook is mispricing the event, or that new information hasn't yet been fully incorporated into sportsbook lines. It's important to remember that both represent probabilities, but are derived through different mechanisms.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome of the Karelov vs. Serhyenko match. The price of these shares fluctuates based on supply and demand, and directly reflects the probability of each outcome as perceived by the market participants. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The more traders believe an outcome is likely, the higher the price of shares representing that outcome will climb, and vice versa. This dynamic pricing ensures the market odds are always up-to-date.
This market resolves around Oct 12, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The resolution will be based on the official result of the Karelov vs. Serhyenko match, as reported by the governing sporting body. Traders will be able to see the final result reflected in the market, and winning shares will be paid out accordingly. The platform will verify the outcome against publicly available sources to ensure accuracy and transparency.
