This set of markets focuses on predicting which player or team will score the first touchdown in an upcoming football game. Each market corresponds to a specific player or the defensive unit, with outcomes determined by game events.
All markets resolve based on whether the specified player or defensive unit scores the first touchdown of the game. If the designated participant is active but does not take any snaps, the market settles at the fair market price determined before the game starts. Once a participant takes at least one snap—regardless of whether the play is nullified by a penalty—the market resolves according to whether that participant scores the first touchdown. If no touchdowns are scored in the entire game, the 'No Touchdown' market resolves to Yes, and all other player and unit markets resolve to No. These rules apply uniformly across all individual player and defensive unit markets.
Generally, prediction market odds tend to reflect the wisdom of the crowd, often differing from initial sportsbook lines. Sportsbooks set their odds to balance action and ensure a profit, while this market aggregates the diverse opinions of traders. As more information becomes available – such as injury reports or weather forecasts – and as the event approaches, the prices in this market may converge with, or diverge from, sportsbook odds. It's common to see prediction markets outperform traditional odds in accuracy, especially closer to the event date.
On Kalshi, this market is priced using a continuous double auction. Traders buy and sell contracts representing the probability of each player scoring the first touchdown. As more people buy a contract, the price increases, reflecting a higher perceived probability. Conversely, selling pressure lowers the price. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of a contract represents the cost to hold one unit of exposure to that outcome. This dynamic pricing mechanism allows the market to quickly incorporate new information and adjust probabilities in real-time, based on trader sentiment.
This market resolves around Oct 5, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Resolution will be based on which player officially scores the first touchdown in the game, as recorded by official game statistics. The official game log will be the source for determining the winning outcome. Any scoring plays subject to review will be resolved based on the final ruling of the game officials. The market will then settle based on which player's contract was held by traders.
Several factors could significantly impact this market. Any news regarding player injuries, particularly to key offensive players or potential touchdown scorers, would likely cause price fluctuations. Changes in weather forecasts, such as heavy rain or strong winds, could also influence the market, as they affect passing and running game strategies. Unexpected starting lineup announcements or shifts in coaching strategy could also move prices. Finally, any late-breaking news or analysis regarding team matchups or player performance could impact trader sentiment and drive price changes.
