Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks often set initial lines based on statistical models and expert analysis, while this market incorporates a broader range of information and opinions from traders. If sportsbook odds significantly diverge from those seen here, it might indicate disagreement about key factors influencing the game, such as team form, injuries, or tactical approaches. It's common to see prediction markets adjust more quickly to new information than sportsbooks, potentially offering a more accurate assessment of the likely outcome.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in each outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders buy shares in a particular team scoring first, the price of those shares increases, reflecting growing confidence. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market’s price fluctuates based on supply and demand, providing a dynamic and real-time assessment of the event’s potential results. The current volume traded indicates the level of interest and conviction surrounding each possibility.
