Revisions to officially declared final scores made after market resolution will not be accounted for in determining the outcome. Generally, prediction market odds often reflect a 'wisdom of the crowd' perspective, potentially differing from sportsbook odds which may be influenced by factors like house biases or promotional offers. Sportsbooks often adjust their lines based on betting action and public perception, while this market relies on traders directly expressing their beliefs about the outcome. It's common to see discrepancies, especially before significant events or when new information emerges. Comparing the two can provide a broader understanding of the expected result and identify potential value in either market.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in each possible outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the probability of that outcome occurring, as perceived by the market participants. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and express their views, the prices adjust to reflect the collective prediction. The market’s efficiency relies on informed traders and active participation, leading to a dynamically updated probability assessment of the exact score.
