Currently, prediction market odds often reflect a different perspective than traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks typically incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, ensuring a profit margin, while Polymarket allows traders to directly express their beliefs about the probability of each outcome. This can lead to discrepancies, as the collective wisdom of the crowd on Polymarket may differ from the initial assessments of bookmakers. It’s common to see prediction markets move independently of sportsbook lines, especially as new information emerges or public sentiment shifts regarding this match.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous trading mechanism where users buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of these shares directly reflects the implied probability of each outcome. As more traders participate and express their views, the price adjusts accordingly, creating a dynamic and real-time assessment of the match's potential result. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market’s price is solely determined by supply and demand on Polymarket, and isn't influenced by external factors or other venues.
