Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from those offered by traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set their lines based on internal models and aim to balance action on both sides, while this market is driven by individuals willing to put their money behind their beliefs. If a significant number of traders believe a sportsbook is undervaluing a particular outcome, the odds here will adjust accordingly, potentially offering a more accurate reflection of the true probability. It’s common to see discrepancies, especially before a large influx of information or betting activity.
On Predict, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell contracts representing different outcomes. The price of each contract reflects the probability of that outcome occurring, as perceived by the market participants. On Predict, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and new information becomes available, the prices dynamically adjust, creating a real-time forecast. The market efficiently incorporates diverse perspectives, leading to a collective prediction about the final result of the Jacksonville State vs. Kennesaw State game.
