Frequently asked questions

Generally, prediction market odds often reflect information and insights beyond those considered by traditional sportsbooks. While sportsbooks set lines based on statistical models and expert opinions, this market incorporates the wisdom of the crowd, potentially factoring in less quantifiable elements. It's common to see differences emerge, especially as new information becomes available or public sentiment shifts. However, it’s important to remember that both represent probabilities of an outcome, and discrepancies can present opportunities for arbitrage or informed betting decisions. Comparing the two can offer a more comprehensive view of the event’s potential results.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders buy shares in a particular outcome, its price increases, and vice versa. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. This dynamic pricing reflects the collective intelligence of the market participants. The current price indicates what traders, as a group, believe is the likelihood of a specific result in the Ishchyk vs. Kim match.
