Frequently asked questions

Generally, prediction market odds often reflect a ‘wisdom of the crowd’ perspective, potentially differing from sportsbook odds which can be influenced by house biases or promotional offers. Sportsbooks may adjust their lines based on betting action and public perception, while this market relies on individuals directly expressing their beliefs through trading. It's common to see discrepancies, especially before significant events or when new information emerges. Examining both can provide a more comprehensive view of expected probabilities, though this market represents the aggregated predictions of informed traders.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in whether Ipswich Town or Fulham will score first in the first half. As more shares are purchased for a particular outcome, its price increases, reflecting a higher implied probability. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of a share directly corresponds to the probability of that outcome occurring, as perceived by the market participants. Trading volume and order book depth also influence price discovery, ensuring a dynamic and responsive market.

This market resolves around Oct 10, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Specifically, the outcome will be determined by which team, if any, scores the first goal during the first half of the Ipswich Town FC versus Fulham FC match. If neither team scores during the first half, the market will resolve in favor of 'No Goal Scored'. The resolution will be based on official match data and verified against credible public sources, ensuring a transparent and accurate outcome.

Several factors could influence trading activity in this market. Any news regarding key player injuries or suspensions for either Ipswich Town or Fulham would likely cause shifts in the odds. Team form leading up to the match, including recent performance and tactical changes, could also impact trader sentiment. Unexpected weather conditions on match day, or even pre-match announcements about starting lineups, could trigger significant price movements. Furthermore, any large-volume trades on Polymarket could rapidly alter the probabilities reflected in this market.
