This market assesses how many points will be scored in the final quarter of a college football matchup, focusing exclusively on the fourth quarter's performance. It provides various thresholds to gauge the potential scoring intensity in the last period of play.
All markets resolve based on the total points scored by both teams combined during the fourth quarter of the Iowa St. vs BYU college football game scheduled for October 9, 2026, excluding any points scored in overtime. Each market has a specific threshold: if the combined fourth-quarter points exceed the stated threshold (e.g., 2.5, 5.5, up to 27.5 points), the market resolves to 'Yes'; otherwise, it resolves to 'No'. If the game is postponed but starts within 48 hours of the original time, the markets remain open and resolve based on the final result. If the game does not start within 48 hours, all markets resolve to a fair price. Points from overtime do not count toward any market outcome.
Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from those offered by traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set initial lines based on their own models and aim to balance action on both sides, while this market’s odds are determined by individuals willing to buy or sell contracts based on their own analysis. This often leads to prediction markets being more accurate, especially as the event approaches, as they incorporate a wider range of information and perspectives than a single sportsbook might. However, discrepancies can exist due to differing risk assessments and market dynamics.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order book, meaning traders are constantly posting bids (prices they’re willing to buy at) and asks (prices they’re willing to sell at). The current price represents the consensus expectation of the total points scored in the 4th quarter. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and new information emerges, the price fluctuates to reflect the evolving probabilities. Buying a contract is equivalent to betting that the actual total will be *above* the price, while selling is a bet that it will be *below* that level.
This market resolves around Oct 10, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The final total points scored in the fourth quarter of the Iowa State vs BYU game will be used to determine whether those who bought contracts win or those who sold contracts win. The official game statistics, as reported by a recognized sports data provider, will serve as the source for the final score. Traders will be able to view the resolution details on Kalshi following the game’s conclusion.
Several factors could influence the price of this market. Any news regarding key player injuries for either Iowa State or BYU would likely cause significant movement. Changes in weather forecasts, particularly if they suggest conditions favorable for high or low scoring, could also impact trading activity. In-game performance during the first three quarters, such as a dominant offensive showing by one team, could shift expectations and lead to price adjustments. Finally, any late-breaking news or analysis from sports commentators could also contribute to volatility in this market.
