Often, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and aim to balance action on both sides, while this market aggregates the beliefs of many individual traders. If a significant number of traders believe one team is more likely to win the third quarter than sportsbooks suggest, the price will move accordingly. This can sometimes lead to opportunities for value betting, where you find discrepancies between the two types of odds. It's important to compare and contrast to inform your own predictions.
On Kalshi, this market is priced using a continuous double auction. Traders buy and sell contracts representing each possible outcome – in this case, Iowa State winning the third quarter or BYU winning the third quarter. The price of each contract reflects the probability of that outcome as perceived by the market participants. As more traders buy a contract, its price increases, and vice versa. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market dynamically adjusts to new information and changing sentiment, providing a real-time assessment of the likely winner of the third quarter.
This market resolves around Oct 10, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Specifically, the result will be determined by which team is leading after the third quarter of the Iowa State vs BYU game. The official game results, as reported by a trusted sports data source, will be used to determine the winning outcome. Traders who correctly predicted the third-quarter winner will receive a payout based on the final market price at resolution.
Several factors could influence the price of this market. Any news regarding injuries to key players on either the Iowa State or BYU teams would likely cause significant movement. Changes in weather conditions, particularly if they favor one team’s playing style, could also impact the odds. Unexpected coaching decisions or strategic adjustments announced before or during the game could also shift market sentiment. Finally, even public perception and betting trends – if widely reported – can influence how traders position themselves in this market.
