This market tracks which team will score more points in the second quarter of an upcoming college football game between Iowa State and BYU. Prediction market odds often reflect the wisdom of the crowd, and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and to balance action, while this market aggregates the beliefs of many individual traders. Generally, prediction markets tend to be more accurate than traditional point spreads, especially when there's significant public interest. However, sportsbook odds are readily available and provide a useful benchmark for comparison. Discrepancies between the two can present potential trading opportunities, as arbitrageurs attempt to profit from mispricings.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order book where traders bid to buy 'yes' contracts (believing a team will win the 2nd quarter) and ask to sell 'yes' contracts (betting against that outcome). The price of a contract represents the probability of that outcome occurring, scaled to a value between 0 and 100. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders buy 'yes' contracts, the price increases, reflecting a higher perceived probability. Conversely, increased selling pressure lowers the price. This dynamic pricing mechanism ensures that the market reflects the collective intelligence of all participants.
This market resolves around Oct 10, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The team leading at the end of the 2nd quarter of the Iowa State vs BYU game will be declared the winner for the purposes of this market. Resolution will be based on the official game statistics and score as reported by a trusted sports data provider. Traders will be able to view the resolution details on Kalshi following the conclusion of the game and official confirmation of the 2nd quarter score.
Several factors could influence the price of this market. News regarding player injuries to key players on either Iowa State or BYU would likely cause significant movement. Changes in weather conditions, particularly if they favor one team’s playing style, could also shift the odds. Unexpected announcements about coaching strategies or team morale could also impact trader sentiment. Finally, any significant shifts in public perception, perhaps driven by pre-game analysis or expert opinions, could lead to changes in volume and price as traders adjust their positions.
