These markets track the total points scored by both teams in the second half of an upcoming college football game, including any overtime periods. Each market has a different threshold for the total points needed to resolve as 'Yes'.
All markets resolve based on the total points scored by both teams in the second half (including overtime) of the Iowa St. vs BYU college football game scheduled for Oct 9, 2026. Each market has a specific threshold: if the combined second-half points exceed the threshold, the market resolves to Yes; otherwise, it resolves to No. For all markets, only points scored in the second half count. If the game is postponed but starts within 48 hours of the original time, the markets remain open and resolve based on the final result. If the game does not start within 48 hours, all markets resolve to a fair price. Kalshi is not affiliated with the NCAA, and all trademarks remain the property of their respective owners.
Generally, prediction market odds often reflect the wisdom of the crowd, potentially offering a different perspective than traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbook odds are typically set by analysts aiming to balance action on both sides and incorporate a profit margin. This market, however, is driven by individuals willing to put their money behind their beliefs, which can lead to odds that diverge from those found at sportsbooks, especially as new information becomes available. It’s common to see prediction markets more accurately forecast probabilities than traditional methods.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order book where traders buy and sell contracts representing different total point outcomes for the second half. The price of a contract reflects the probability of that outcome occurring, as perceived by the market participants. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and new information emerges, the prices adjust to reflect the collective assessment of the event’s likelihood. The current price indicates what traders are willing to pay or receive for a contract that pays out if the actual total falls within that range.
This market resolves around Oct 10, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the official total points scored in the second half of the Iowa State vs BYU game is verifiable from credible public reporting. The final score, as reported by official sources, will determine whether contracts settle at 100 or 0, depending on whether the actual total falls within the range represented by the purchased contract. The resolution process is designed to be objective and based on publicly available data.
Several factors could influence the price of this market before resolution. Any news regarding injuries to key players on either the Iowa State or BYU teams could significantly shift expectations. Changes in weather conditions, particularly if they are expected to impact scoring, could also move the market. Additionally, live game developments during the first half, such as a dominant performance by one team, could lead traders to adjust their predictions and alter the price of contracts representing different total point outcomes.
