The market assesses whether Trevor Lawrence will throw a certain number of passing touchdowns in an upcoming football game between Indianapolis and Jacksonville. The outcome depends solely on Lawrence's performance during the full game, including any overtime periods.
These markets resolve based on whether Trevor Lawrence records a specified minimum number of passing touchdowns in the full game, including overtime. Contracts are designated as protected: if Lawrence participates in at least one play during the first half but none after, the contract resolves to the pre-game fair price unless the required touchdowns are recorded, in which case it settles based on actual statistics. Participation in a play nullified by penalty does not count, and a player who never participates remains subject to the fair price non-participation rule. The protected designation applies only to full-game contracts with an above or at-least payout criterion.
Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own analysis and aim to balance action on both sides, while this market is driven by individuals expressing their beliefs about the likelihood of different outcomes. It’s common to see discrepancies, especially as new information emerges or public opinion shifts. These differences can present opportunities for informed traders to potentially find value in either the prediction market or the sportsbook, depending on their assessment of the probabilities.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order book where traders buy and sell contracts representing different outcomes. The price of each contract reflects the market's collective assessment of the probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders participate, the prices adjust to reflect the evolving consensus. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price movements are influenced by factors like news reports, player injuries, and overall betting activity, creating a dynamic and responsive pricing mechanism. Traders aim to profit by identifying discrepancies between their own beliefs and the market price.
This market resolves around Nov 2, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The final number of passing touchdowns scored in the Indianapolis versus Jacksonville game will be used to determine which contracts pay out. The resolution will be based on official game statistics, ensuring a transparent and objective determination of the results. Traders will then receive their payouts based on the final outcome and the contracts they hold.
Several signals could significantly move this market before resolution. Any news regarding the quarterbacks’ health, such as injuries or illness, would likely cause price fluctuations. Changes in weather forecasts, particularly if they suggest adverse conditions for passing, could also impact trading activity. Unexpected lineup changes or strategic adjustments announced by either team could also shift market sentiment. Finally, significant betting patterns or large volume trades on Kalshi itself can create momentum and influence the price of contracts.
