Generally, prediction market odds tend to be more accurate than traditional sportsbook odds, as they reflect the collective wisdom of a diverse group of traders. However, there can be differences. Sportsbooks often set initial lines to balance action and incorporate a profit margin, while this market is driven purely by participant beliefs. It’s common to see this market move independently of sportsbook lines, especially as new information emerges or public sentiment shifts. Comparing the two can offer valuable insights into the perceived probabilities of various outcomes.
On Predict, this market is priced through a continuous order book where traders buy and sell contracts representing different outcomes. The price of each contract reflects the current probability of that outcome, as determined by supply and demand. As more people buy contracts for a particular outcome, the price increases, and vice versa. On Predict, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. This dynamic pricing mechanism allows the market to quickly incorporate new information and adjust probabilities in real-time, creating a constantly evolving assessment of the game's potential results.
