Prices on Polymarket and Kalshi can diverge due to several factors. Each platform has its own user base, trading rules, and liquidity levels. Polymarket and Kalshi can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. Differences in these factors can lead to varying price discovery processes. For example, if one platform attracts more sophisticated traders or has higher trading volume, its prices might be more efficient. Furthermore, the specific markets offered on each platform – such as Spread: Illinois (-20.5) versus UCLA wins – can also contribute to price discrepancies, reflecting differing approaches to framing the outcome of the Illinois vs. UCLA game.
