These markets track the total points scored by both teams in the second half of a college football game, including any overtime periods. Each market has a different threshold for the total points needed to resolve as 'Yes'.
All markets resolve based on the total points scored by both teams in the second half (including overtime) of the Illinois vs Michigan St. college football game scheduled for Oct 10, 2026. Each market has a specific threshold (ranging from 2.5 to 41.5 points); if the combined second-half points exceed the threshold, the market resolves to Yes. If the game is postponed but starts within 48 hours of the original time, the markets remain open and resolve based on the final result. If the game does not start within 48 hours, all markets resolve to a fair price. Only points scored in the second half count toward these markets.
Generally, prediction market odds tend to reflect the wisdom of the crowd, often aligning closely with sportsbook odds but sometimes diverging based on unique information or perspectives held by traders. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and risk management, while this market allows individuals to express their beliefs directly. If sportsbook odds suggest a strong likelihood of a particular outcome, we might see similar pricing here, but differing opinions can create discrepancies. It’s common to see prediction markets react quickly to news and developments, potentially leading to faster price adjustments than traditional sportsbooks.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order book where traders buy and sell contracts representing their beliefs about the 2nd half total. The price of a contract reflects the probability of that outcome occurring. For example, a contract priced at 60 means it costs $60 to buy a contract that pays out $100 if the event occurs. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Traders are constantly adjusting their bids and asks based on new information and their own analysis, which dynamically updates the market price. Currently, the most active outcome is Over 9.5 2H points scored.
This market resolves around Oct 10, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The final score of the second half of the Illinois vs Michigan St. game will be used to determine whether the total points scored exceeded or fell short of 9.5. The official game statistics, as reported by a reputable sports data provider, will serve as the source of truth for the resolution. Traders will then receive payouts based on whether their contracts align with the actual result.
Several factors could influence the price of this market. Any news regarding key player injuries for either Illinois or Michigan St. would likely have a significant impact, as it affects scoring potential. Changes in weather conditions, particularly if they are expected to impact the game's style of play, could also move the market. Late-breaking news about team strategies or coaching decisions might also cause shifts in trader sentiment. Finally, even broader trends in college basketball scoring or defensive performance could subtly influence how traders price this market.
