Frequently asked questions

Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from those offered by traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks often set initial odds to balance their risk, while this market allows traders to freely adjust probabilities based on their own analysis and information. If there’s a significant disparity, it could indicate that the market believes a sportsbook has mispriced a particular outcome or isn’t fully accounting for certain factors. It's common to see this market converge with sportsbook odds as the event draws nearer and more information becomes available.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in each cyclist winning. The price of a share directly corresponds to the probability of that cyclist winning, as perceived by the market participants. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The more shares purchased for a particular cyclist, the higher their price goes, and vice versa. This dynamic pricing ensures that the market reflects the collective intelligence of all traders involved.

This market resolves around Oct 17, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The official results of the Il Lombardia race will be used to determine the winner. The cyclist who crosses the finish line first, according to the official race results, will be declared the winner of this market. Resolution will be based on the official results published by the race organizers and verified against credible public sources.

Several factors could significantly impact this market. Any news regarding the health or form of key contenders, such as injuries or strong performances in preceding races, would likely cause shifts in the odds. Weather conditions on race day, particularly if they deviate from the forecast, could also influence the market, as certain cyclists excel in different conditions. Finally, tactical announcements from teams or unexpected race dynamics during the event itself could lead to substantial movements in this market as traders react to new information.
