Frequently asked questions

Often, prediction market odds offer a different perspective than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and incorporate a profit margin, while this market reflects the collective wisdom of traders. If a significant discrepancy exists, it could indicate that prediction market participants believe the sportsbook’s odds are mispriced, or that they have access to information not yet fully factored into the sportsbook lines. It’s common to see differences, particularly in events where public sentiment strongly deviates from expert analysis.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the probability of that outcome occurring, as perceived by the market participants. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and new information becomes available, the price of shares will fluctuate, reflecting the evolving consensus. The market’s price is determined solely by supply and demand for these shares, creating a dynamic and real-time assessment of the potential result.

This market resolves around Oct 12, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The result will be based on the official second-half result of the IF Elfsborg vs. Halmstads BK match. Resolution will occur after the match concludes and the official result is publicly available. Traders who correctly predicted the outcome will be paid out according to the final share price at the time of resolution, while those who predicted incorrectly will forfeit their shares.

Several factors could influence trading activity in this market. Any news regarding player injuries, team form, or tactical changes could significantly shift the perceived probabilities. Unexpected weather conditions on match day could also play a role, potentially impacting the style of play and outcome. Furthermore, significant betting activity from informed traders could trigger price movements, as others react to their actions. Monitoring these signals and events can help you understand how the market is responding to new information and potentially identify trading opportunities.
