A men's college basketball game between two teams is scheduled for November 2, 2026. The market resolves based entirely on which team wins the game.
The market resolves to Yes for the specified team if they win the men's college basketball game originally scheduled for November 2, 2026. If the game is postponed but begins within 48 hours of its originally scheduled start time, the market will remain open and resolve based on the official final result. If the game is cancelled or not started within 48 hours of its originally scheduled start, both markets will resolve to a fair price.
Often, prediction market odds reflect a different perspective than those found at sportsbooks. Sportsbooks typically incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, ensuring a profit margin regardless of the outcome. This market, on Kalshi, represents the collective wisdom of traders, who are incentivized to accurately assess probabilities. While sportsbooks may initially set lines based on statistical models and expert opinions, this market can diverge as new information emerges or public sentiment shifts. It’s common to see differences in implied probabilities between the two, offering potential arbitrage opportunities for informed traders.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order book, where traders buy and sell contracts representing different outcomes. The price of each contract reflects the market’s current assessment of the probability of that outcome occurring. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and place orders, the prices adjust to reflect the evolving consensus. Essentially, the market price is determined by supply and demand – if more people believe Idaho St. will win, the price of contracts representing that outcome will increase, and vice versa. This dynamic pricing mechanism aims to provide a real-time probability assessment.
This market resolves around Nov 3, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The resolution will be based on the official result of the Idaho St. vs Utah St. game. The platform will utilize publicly available data to determine the winning team, and all contracts will be settled accordingly. Traders who correctly predicted the outcome will receive a payout based on the final market price at resolution, while those who predicted incorrectly will forfeit their investment. The process is designed to be transparent and based on objective results.
Several factors could influence this market before it resolves. Any news regarding injuries to key players on either Idaho St. or Utah St. could significantly shift the odds. Changes in coaching strategies, weather forecasts impacting game conditions, or even significant shifts in public perception based on pre-game analysis could all move the market. Unexpected announcements about team lineups or player availability would also be major catalysts. Monitoring these signals and assessing their potential impact is crucial for traders looking to capitalize on market movements.
