Prediction market odds often reflect the wisdom of the crowd, potentially differing from those set by sportsbooks. Sportsbooks establish lines based on their own models and aim to balance action on both sides, incorporating a profit margin. This market, however, is driven by individuals freely trading based on their own analysis and information. As a result, the odds here can sometimes be more accurate, especially when new information emerges or public sentiment shifts. It’s common to see discrepancies, with prediction markets sometimes offering better value depending on your assessment of the game.
On Kalshi, this market is priced using a continuous double auction. Traders buy and sell contracts representing the probability of Iceland winning in regulation time. As more people buy contracts, the price goes up, indicating a higher perceived chance of that outcome. Conversely, selling contracts drives the price down. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price represents the current market consensus, and reflects the collective beliefs of all participants. The market dynamically adjusts to new information and changing opinions, providing a real-time assessment of the likely result.
This market resolves around Oct 13, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Resolution will be based on the official result of the Iceland vs Croatia match, specifically whether Iceland wins during regulation time (excluding any extra time or penalty shootouts). The official match result, as reported by a recognized sports data provider, will be the determining factor. Traders will then be paid out or have their contracts settled based on whether their prediction aligned with the final result.
Several factors could influence trading activity in this market. Any news regarding team injuries, changes in player lineups, or tactical adjustments announced by either Iceland or Croatia could cause the price to shift. Unexpected weather conditions at the match venue could also play a role, as could significant shifts in public sentiment or expert analysis. Major upsets in other related matches, or even broader trends in soccer performance, might also impact trader behavior and move the price of this market before Oct 13, 2026.
