Prediction market odds often reflect a different perspective than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and ensure profit, while this market aggregates the wisdom of the crowd. If there's a significant difference between the implied probability on Polymarket and sportsbook odds, it could indicate disagreement about the likely outcome. Discrepancies can arise from differing information, biases, or simply the unique dynamics of each market. It's valuable to compare both to form a well-rounded view.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome of the Hrekh vs. Pohonov match. The price of these shares fluctuates based on supply and demand, directly reflecting the collective prediction. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more people believe a particular outcome is likely, the price of shares representing that outcome will increase, and vice versa. This dynamic pricing ensures the market odds always represent the current consensus view.
