This market focuses on predicting the outcome of the first quarter in an upcoming college football game between Houston and Kansas State. It assesses whether one team will establish a significant lead over the other within the initial 15 minutes of play.
The markets resolve based on the point differential between Houston and Kansas State during the first quarter of their college football game scheduled for October 10, 2026. Each market corresponds to a specific point threshold, with varying margins of victory required for a 'Yes' outcome depending on the team in the lead. For markets where Kansas State must win by more than a specified margin (10.5, 7.5, 6.5, 3.5, or 2.5 points), the condition is met if Kansas State's score exceeds Houston's by that amount at the end of the first quarter. Conversely, for markets where Houston must win by more than a specified margin (2.5, 3.5, 6.5, 7.5, or 10.5 points), the condition is satisfied if Houston's score surpasses Kansas State's by that margin at the end of the first quarter. All markets exclusively consider points scored during the first quarter. If the game is postponed but commences within 48 hours of the original schedule, the markets remain active and resolve according to the official result. If the game fails to start within 48 hours of its scheduled time, the markets resolve to a fair price, ensuring equitable treatment for all participants.
Prediction market odds often reflect the wisdom of the crowd, potentially differing from traditional sportsbook lines. Sportsbooks set their initial lines based on statistical models and expert analysis, while this market aggregates the beliefs of many individual traders. If a significant number of traders believe the sportsbook's line is inaccurate, the price on Kalshi will move accordingly, potentially offering a different perspective on the likely outcome. It’s common to see discrepancies, especially as new information becomes available and public sentiment shifts closer to game time.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order book, where traders buy and sell contracts representing their beliefs about the spread. The price of the contract fluctuates based on supply and demand; more buyers drive the price up, while more sellers push it down. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. This dynamic pricing mechanism allows the market to quickly incorporate new information and reflect the collective intelligence of the traders participating. The current price represents the probability that the spread will fall within the range defined by the contract.
This market resolves around Oct 10, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the official result of the first quarter spread is verifiable from credible public reporting. The final spread will be determined by official game statistics, and the market will settle based on whether the actual spread falls within the range represented by the purchased contracts. Traders who correctly predicted the spread will receive a payout, while those who bet against it will forfeit their stake. The resolution process ensures a transparent and verifiable outcome.
Several factors could influence the price of this market leading up to Oct 10, 2026. Any news regarding injuries to key players on either the Houston or Kansas St. teams would likely have a significant impact. Changes in weather forecasts, particularly if they are expected to affect the game's style of play, could also move the market. Furthermore, late-breaking news about team strategies or coaching decisions, and even large volume trades on Kalshi, could all contribute to price fluctuations as traders adjust their expectations.
